Research Seminar
The students liked it... I guess :).
Today I ran my first “Research 101” mini-seminar with some of my honours thesis and grad students. We talked about what actually makes a research problem (vs. just a project), how to turn vague ideas into concrete questions, and how to build a realistic plan around methods, data, and time.
Students also presented their current projects, which sparked good discussions about scope, feasibility, and next steps.
This was my first time organizing this kind of session, but it worked well enough that I’m planning to make it a recurring part of how I support students in their research.
